Overview

New Zealand Diploma

in Hospitality Management (Level 5)

Content

You will need to complete all of the following papers:

  • Facility and resource management

  • Team management

  • Managing perishability and market fluctuations

  • Creating positive customer service environment

  • Staff leadership project: building a customer service team

  • Operating procedures in the hospitality industry

  • Advanced food and beverage service supervision

  • Commercial accommodation and management

Outcome

On completion of this programme, graduates of this programme will be capable of leading a small team and/or managing a small business unit within a larger organisation. You will be able to:

  • Apply management theory to operational situations as they arise.

  • Provide high levels of customer service through the direct provision of operational service.

Entry Requirements

This programme is open to anyone aged 18 and over. Students must have completed New Zealand Year 12 secondary schooling with NCEA level 2 or an international equivalent and/or have appropriate related work experience.

International students

If you are coming from overseas, to be eligible for this course you must be 18 years of age or older

 

English Language Requirements

All applicants must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language proficiency prior to being accepted into the programme.

International students, see requirements outlined below.

International Learners

For international learners with English as a second language must provide evidence of the required English language requirements from an internationally recognised
English Proficiency Test.

This includes:

  • IELTS academic test - with a minimum score of 5.5 and no band score lower than 5 (Scores must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form)

  • TOEFL course-based test (pBT) - with a minimum score of 530 and an essay score 4.5 TWE

  • TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - with a minimum score of 46 and a writing score of 14

  • Cambridge English Qualifications - B2 First or B2 First for Schools with a score of 162 or above and no less than 154 in each skill

  • OET - with a minimum grade C or 200 in all sub-tests

  • NZCEL - Level 4 (General) or (Workplace) or (Employment)

  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) - with a PTE academic score of 42 or above and no band score lower than 36

  • Language Certificate - B2 Communicator International ESOL (LRW) with HIGH PASS and no less than 25/50 in each skill and Spoken (S) PASS

  • Trinity ISE - ISE II with no less than merit in any band

Career Pathways

Successful graduates will be awarded the following qualification by New Zealand Qualifications Authority:

New Zealand Diploma In Hospitality Management (Level 5), worth 120 credits.

Employment Pathways
